Sofia Sylphide (ソフィア・シルフィード, Sofia Shirufīdo) is a main heroine in the Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time series.
Appearance[]
She is a beautiful elven woman with long waist-length light-golden hair and leaf green colored eyes. She also has her species inherent long pointed ears, is tall with long limbs, and is well-endowed. Fifty years previous to her meeting with Takumi, she had been involved in a war in which she had her right arm amputated at the elbow, her left leg amputated at the knee joint, and part of her left ear severed and had been scarred. After being bought by Takumi, he healed her injuries, removing her scars as well as her missing extremities.
(In the Manga/anime, the amputations were changed to paralysis in the right hand, a demonic curse, and semi-nerve damage in her left ankle.)
Personality[]
In her earlier years, she was prideful of her race, beauty, and prestige. However, after being wounded and losing limbs, she was reduced to a shadow of her former self and started becoming humble, realizing that her old personality was quite toxic. This was more apparent after a young man who bought her, Takumi, healed her body and looks.
She viewed her new master as rather young and naïve, but she was also perplexed by his seemingly endless acts of kindness. She often warred between logical reasoning and her growing feelings towards him. As a former military noblewoman, she has the aura of a cool-headed woman who can manage many things expertly.
She had a slight case of androphobia, viewing burly men as scary, possibly due to the beginning of her time as a slave, which is why she never viewed Takumi as a man during their first interaction. On regaining her former confidence, this phobia disappeared entirely. She begins to trust Takumi and is relieved he doesn't have any lustful urges during the beginning of their relationship. Upon finally realizing her feelings, she has an outburst where she proclaims her love and shows her former jealousy, which causes her to be embarrassed when people still accept her bold declaration and treat her the same.
History[]
Sofia was born into a low-ranking noble family in the Yggurle Kingdom, a country of elves. Fifty years ago, she was a knight who fought in the war between the Yggurle and Triaria Kingdoms. During the conflict, she was gravely injured—losing her right arm and left leg, as well as part of her left ear. She was captured as a prisoner of war and initially intended to be exchanged or used as compensation in the war’s prisoner exchange process. However, she was instead sold to Barcula Kingdom through a broker, ultimately ending up in the Moulin Slavery Company.
Her severe injuries and a curse preventing her from using magic made her nearly unsellable despite her peerless beauty. She remained unsold for decades and never returned to her homeland, and the reasons for her prolonged captivity remain a mystery.
After many years, she was eventually purchased by Iruma Takumi, a young man who treated her kindly and healed her injuries, restoring her missing limbs and dispelling the curse. Overwhelmed by Takumi's compassion and body restoration, Sofia vowed to serve him for the rest of her life, pledging her loyalty and devotion.
Sofia’s past is filled with sorrow and suffering, but with Takumi’s intervention, she finds a new purpose and a chance to live free from the physical and emotional scars of her past.
Relationships[]
Dante von Sylphide[]
Dante is Sophia's father. When Sophia lived in Yggurle, she and her father were not very close, as they didn't communicate well. This led to her infatuation with the sword.
Mulan[]
Maria[]
Iruma Takumi[]
She first met Takumi at the Mulan Slave Company. She was enslaved after being on the losing side in a war. She was wounded, having part of her left ear severed, also having her right arm amputated at the elbow, and her left leg amputated at the knee joint. She had been kept at the Mulan Slave Company, under the care of its owner, Mulan, due to nobody wanting a disabled slave. Eventually, she met Takumi, who was insistent about taking her into his servitude. She was hesitant at first but eventually had no choice but to give in. She was initially distrustful of him, but after he healed her, repairing her ear, right arm, and left leg, she pledged her life to him. She later on becomes Takumi's wife.
Gloam[]
The Gloam is a rare and powerful creature that Sophia successfully tamed during the exploration Table Mountains. It is a C-rank monster with a wingspan of over 2 meters. As its name suggests, the Thunder Eagle has the ability to manipulate lightning, making it both feared and admired. Taming raptor-type monsters like the Thunder Eagle is highly valued, especially by nobles who practice falconry. Its rarity and abilities make it a highly sought-after creature.
