Mani

Máni (マーニ, Māni) is a main heroine in the Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time series.

Appearance[]

Mani is a woman from the Rabbitkin tribe, known for her distinctive features such as rabbit ears and tail. Her appearance is modest and simple, fitting someone who grew up in a rural setting, where hard physical labor was a daily necessity.

Personality[]

Mani is a kind and solitary woman, shaped by the hardships she has faced in life. She is resilient, but her life has been marked by a series of losses and struggles. Initially, she lacked motivation after losing her husband and facing an uncertain future, however, she showed a willingness to adapt to her new circumstances and seek a fresh start, especially after meeting Takumi. Her personality also reveals a subtle attraction to Takumi, which is natural in Beastkin culture, where a woman without a mate is drawn to an exceptional man.

History[]

Mani was born and lived in an ashen, devastated world, where she faced a difficult life from a young age. At the age of 20, she married a man from a neighboring village, but their married life was marked by his illness, which left her responsible for all the hard labor, such as cultivating the land. The failure of the pioneering village, heavy taxes, and a drought led to the village's abandonment. Shortly after this decision, Mani's husband died, leaving her without direction. Mani also lost her parents at a young age, which made her feel even more isolated. She was then taken to Margrave Bolton’s territory, where she found herself in a newly developing town. Here she was propositioned on being a maid for the head and creator of the of the new village, named Iruma Takumi.

Relationships[]

Deceased Husband[]

Mani didn’t have a deeply affectionate or intense relationship with her husband. As her mother taught her, marriage is more about companionship and mutual growth over the years, without great displays of affection. This understanding shaped how Mani viewed her marriage—though she didn't know whether she loved or liked her husband, it was a natural and expected part of life.

Iruma Takumi[]

Takumi plays an important role in Mani’s life. She begins working for him as a maid and develops a growing respect for him. Over time, her attraction to Takumi becomes more evident, especially as she realizes how exceptional he is. Mani considers the idea of becoming his slave, not out of force, but out of her own will, motivated by a desire to improve herself and get closer to him. She starts working hard to gain his affection, later on becoming Takumi's wife.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike Maria and Sophia who calls Takumi “Goshujinsama” which is a very formal way of saying Master, Mani calls him “Danna-sama” which can be translated as Master (from the house), or Husband.
  • Iruma Takumi turned her into a slave because her race is one of the most sought after by nobles due to her visual appeal. If she were registered as a slave, no noble or merchant would target her for fear of being punished by the kingdom's laws.
