Dante von Sylphide is a character from the Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time series.

Appearance[]

Dante von Sylphide has the typical long-lived elven appearance, marked by his striking features and youthful face that could pass for someone younger than his age. His hair is long and silver, with slight tinges of white, and his eyes are bright green. Despite the passage of time, Dante's physicality remains sturdy and strong due to his training as a knight. His attire typically consists of well-maintained knight's armor, symbolic of his rank within the Yggurle Kingdom.

Personality[]

Dante is a devoted father and husband, deeply caring for his family, especially his daughter, Sophia. Despite the many hardships faced by his family over the years, he has remained steadfast in his desire to restore Sophia’s lost limbs and help her return home. He is also a man of honor, struggling to balance his obligations as a knight with his personal desires and the limitations of his family’s financial situation. He has a deep sense of responsibility, which sometimes causes him to feel inadequate in the eyes of others, especially regarding his inability to save Sophia. He has a temperamental side, especially when it comes to defending his family from outside judgment.

History[]

Dante von Sylphide is a high-ranking knight from the Yggurle Kingdom, originally of noble lineage. He married Freesia Sylphide, with whom he had two children: Sofia and Darphy. Dante trained Sophia to become a knight from a young age, having high hopes for her, as she displayed exceptional skills. However, after the tragic events of the war, where Sophia was cursed and lost her limbs, Dante was forced to watch helplessly as his daughter’s life was stolen from her. As the head of the Sylphide family, he is burdened with the inability to buy back Sophia due to financial constraints, as his family's territory is not wealthy. Nevertheless, he continues to seek ways to bring her back, even if it means asking for assistance from other powerful figures, including the elusive Princess Mímir. Dante later abdicates his position as head of the household to Darphy and retires to the 'Sanctuary' alongside Freesia to be closer to his daughter and granddaughter.

Relationships[]

Freesia Sylphide[]

Dante deeply loves his wife, Freesia, and is emotionally connected to her, especially regarding their shared concerns over Sophia's fate. Despite his stoic exterior, he often turns to her for support. While he may officially be the head of the Sylphide family, due to her strength, she is considered the shadow lord of the household and has Dante under her thumb.

Sofia Sylphide[]

Dante has a complicated relationship with Sophia due to her disappearance and the curse she endured. He remains determined to bring her back, even if it requires drastic measures. He views Sophia as a courageous and talented knight, and his guilt for not being able to protect her weighs heavily on him. When Sophia still lived in Yggurle, she and her father were not all that close as they didn't communicate well with each other. This led to her infatuation with the sword.

Darphy von Sylphide[]

Dante's relationship with his son Darphy is one of pride and disappointment. He trained Darphy to follow in his footsteps, but Darphy’s resentment towards Sophia’s disappearance and his desire to be recognized independently have created tension between them.

Powers & Abilities[]

As a high-ranking knight of the Yggurle Kingdom, Dante is highly skilled in swordsmanship and archery. His combat abilities are further enhanced by his natural elven agility and enhanced senses, making him a formidable opponent in battle. Despite his age, he remains in peak physical condition due to his dedication to his knightly duties and his rigorous training as a youth.
